A friend of mine posted this message on Facebook the other day regarding his MacBook Pro laptop that he purchased in 2012: I have a Macbook Pro from 2012 with a dead video card. It will cost me about $500/$600 to fix it, then it will be ok for maybe year or so, I’m told. I’m gone go and pass on the fix. Yesterday I got a support ticket from a user that was complaining about her Lenovo T440s laptop turning off every time she unplug the power cord from the laptop. Indeed the laptop was shutting down when removing the power cord even though both batteries were showing fully charged. The first thing I did was to upgrade the BIOS and reinstall the power management driver, but that didn’t seem to have helped. After trying many tips and tricks I found on the Internet I figured the problem might have been the internal battery. I removed the bottom cover off the laptop, and disconnected the internal battery pack connector from the motherboard. If you are reading this article probably you have the problem that when you turn on your laptop the screen does not display anything, but everything else does, hard drive spin, the lights come on, etc. everything seems to be working, but the screen just does not come on. I will just list the possible solutions to this problem, is not guaranteed that anything will work, but we will follow a troubleshooting procedure that will narrow down the problem to a single point.
